I have been thinking about this for a while now and I think it's a cultural phenomenon. The media have totally forgotten the habit of declaring the conflicts of interest. Whether it's The Atlantic where Anne Applebaum writes long hawkish columns in supporting of arming Ukraine without mentioning that she is married to a hawkish politician of the most hawkish Eastern European country (Poland) or whether it's the Institute for the Study of War or ISW which is so named to hide its conflict with Victoria Nuland. It's terrible that there's no criticism of this blatant dishonest behavior from NYT or CNN. I mean, how are these different from other state media such as RT and North Korean state TV??
