Clinton-Gore is when climate got away from us | https://tinyurl.com/LAPIS-Retallack

Recently, K & S mentioned recently that Dems began leaning into the UMC/college-educated liberal wing of the party during Clinton-Gore. Related to that, it marks where Dems walked away from aggressive, principled support of the environment. Here is an early article, which shows how Gore tried, and failed, to make climate warming mitigation a feature of the Clinton administration. He went on to downplay the policy in his own campaign. The article is by Simon Retallack, from "Lapis" magazine, adapted from the "Ecologist." (7 pgs). I scanned a copy to Google Drive: https://tinyurl.com/LAPIS-Retallack

Forever renters?

What - if anything - can the government really do with the mess that is the housing market? I’ve been trying to buy a home for the last year and every time I get outbid by a cash offer that is 20-30% over asking price. Last week was the tipping point for me when I saw a townhome in a community I’ve been trying to buy into list the place for rent before the unit was even complete. Additionally, the programs in place for first time homebuyers are completely inadequate and do not take into account how the world has changed. With an entire generation (and the next, probably) saddled with massive amounts of debt, people are waiting longer to buy their first homes, and if you work in a large city, it’s easy to pass the income thresholds that disqualify you from assistance.

WHY does Krystal continue to maintain that Covid Vaccines stop the spread of Covid?

Her response to the scotus supreme court mandate decision was that she disagrees with the strikedown and believes the unvaccinated present a danger to others because of potential transmission. It's embarrasing that she still doesn't understand that Covid Vaccines do not stop transmission

Will BreakingPoints hold YouTube Accountable for featuring videos of child labor?

YouTube features many videos of overseas factories producing both consumer and industrial products, where a raw material is transformed through human and machine labor into a finished product or part. Often these videos display horrific working conditions, from dirty and unsanitary workspaces to a complete lack of personal protective equipment even for adults. Viewers can watch poverty wage workers covered in silica bearing dust from grinding, see them reach into vats of industrial chemicals without skin or breathing protection, and view men wearing open toed sandals carrying and pouring hundreds of pounds of molten metal across an unstable dirt floor. The majority of these workers appear to be grown men, but enough of them that it is shocking to behold are obviously children. These videos function as perverse entertainment for YouTube’s audience, a source of revenue for YouTube, and as advertisements for both product and producer. These workers have a right to participate in the globalized economy, but it is unfair for their bosses to compete against American producers by forcing them to work in such abysmally unsafe conditions. YouTube should not be profiting from, promoting, or propping up child labor. It’s a human rights crime, and the global supply chain must be constantly protected from this sinister practice. This is not about calling out any one country. If you look around you will find examples of such horrific practices in many countries and you will also find examples of clean, safe, and child free factories in those same countries. These kinds of exploitative, dangerous, unfair working conditions will crop up anywhere, even here, if they are ignored by corporations seeking to maximize profits at any cost. I am not a journalist, investigator, or supply chain expert and do not have the necessary skills to hunt down the true extent of this problem and determine whether I personally am buying products made by child labor. I hope I’m not, I really desperately hope I’m not. Just by spending time on YouTube I’ve come across these examples. I have to warn you that these videos are extremely upsetting, and depict lives at risk of serious harm with little to no protection. https://youtu.be/owBhaRafdsU 10:30 two kids handling anodizing chemicals https://youtu.be/Wbb7VRc_hwA 5:41 a man in sandals kicks red hot metal casting to keep it from tipping over https://youtu.be/IL031aSTSuI 9:15 a teen boy grinds ceramic disk brakes without PPE (serious cancer/lung risk) and at 20:40 these brake pads being packaged in Diamond auto parts packaging with English text. YouTube has repeatedly shown it will ignore human rights violations displayed on its platform until it receives pressure from the media, particularly where child exploitation is concerned. Please, Krystal and Saagar, use your considerable skills and wide audience to shame YouTube for promoting child labor as entertainment and allowing shady employers to promote their products on the platform.
