The Inevitable Obsolescence of Labor

Hi guys! I love your content and can't wait to see what comes next with Breaking Points. With the new show format, I hope to see you two digging into some deeper questions, and I hope this one interests you: The onset of automation and AI poses an existential threat to the mass of laborers, not just in the US, but across the world. As more and more jobs become automated and the poor and working class are unable to compete or diversify like their PMC counterparts, a rapidly increasing number of people will be facing permanent unemployment. Eventually--a decade, a century, or more--all but a tiny bit of human labor will be rendered obsolete. Keynesian Capitalists argue that the solution to this threat is something like a UBI, where those who are no longer able to work are "made whole" through redistribution from those in control of the automation to those out of control. A "democracy-at-work" socialist like Prof. Richard Wolff (which I am myself) argues that if workers control the enterprise in its entirety then there is no need to work, because automation automatically leads to leisure rather than unemployment. My question then is this: must the working class people of the US (and more broadly the world) unite before this transition is made. In other words, if the broad onset of AI and the obsolescence of labor happens before the policy and systemic changes to protect average people can be made, will it then be too late? And more broadly, what would each of your solutions to the AI problem be? Thanks, and proud to be a supporter! Chris

Your neighbors to the north!!!

So happy to hear you two doing your own thing. My girlfriend and I are huge fans from Canada. Was wondering if at any point you guys could run some stories about the political situation up here in Canada. I feel as though all of our mainstream media outlets are compromised up here, so would love to hear proper journalism about Canadian political information. Thanks in advance!!!

The Death of Feature Films?

Filmmaker here with over 13 feature producing/writing/directing credits. Did the pandemic and Woke Culture kill feature films and movie stars like it did comedy?

Consider launching a channel and getting your show on TV

You guys are doing an excellent job explaining the world and politics as you see it and you have seemingly captured a significant chunk of the millennial & youtube-watching demographic. I urge you to consider collaborating with other independent minded youtubers and streamers to work on getting your show, along with other shows broadcast on TV in the future. You could collaborate with independent voices from members in Finance, Crypto, Foregin policy, USA politics, world politics etc. to counter the establishment in their home turf, which is broadcast television. If you are going to fight the establishment, it has got to be on television too.

Love you two

Just wanted to say that in the title, congrats on the new platform, I think you’ll find a lot of us to support you
