Save Our Kids

I recently listened to Saagar's piece on the damage being done to kids with respect to masking, remote learning, etc. I agree with everything said but it did make me realize that a lot of these arguments and discussions revolve around the children in the country as a whole. I would be interested to here your guys thoughts around the difference between children in red states vs blue states. Do you think this is going to be something that shows up clearly in future data; test scores, mental health, social skills, when comparing the two different approaches and do you feel in 5 or 10 years people will look back and see a clear winner, for lack of a better term, in how this was handled? I for one know my nephew(5) has been back in school for in person learning with no masks since the fall of 2020, it blows my mind that there are still so many schools doing remote/hybrid learning and requiring masking to this day. Love the show, keep doing what you are doing. Thanks

Teacher Unions

Hi K & S, Love your Show! I don't think I've heard you do a segment on teacher unions but I know you both have made negative comments about them in the past. I am a 15 year veteran teacher working in a Philly suburban school district. I am a union member and have been a rep and am currently on the negotiations team as our contract is up. I have seen first hand how important our contract language is. Without it, we'd be teaching during our prep, working with kids during our lunch, staying after our contracted day often for admin meetings and tutoring sessions. Our admin already takes advantage of us and without the union, it would be really bad. So many of us already spend a ton of extra hours outside of our contracted day lesson planning, grading and sending parent emails. Can you explain your negative feelings about teacher unions or point me to a book that will help me understand better? I feel like as an insider, if I know the major issues, then maybe I can work to effect necessary changes. Thanks for all you guys do!

Why are you so critical of Neil Young? He sounds like someone who stands by his principles.

Pulling his music from Spotify is an expression of his free speech. That he stands in protest of your friend should not be reason to draw your ire. I see nothing wrong with people putting their money where their mouth is in protest to stand for what they believe in. Also, spare a thought for why this might be a touchy subject for Neil. He had polio as a young child shortly before vaccines were developed for it so it stands to reason this would be something he cares about. Deriding him for focusing on this issue instead of issues you deem to be more important is inappropriate. He's not an elected official tasked with taking care of the whole nation. He's an individual taking a stand on something he cares about.

Canadian Truckers Convoy 2022

Hi Krystal and Saagar! First off you both have completely reinvigorated my hope that media can be nuanced and fair, and that people can be kind and understanding. Not sure if you guys have been following but Russell Brand did some reporting as well as Rogan about the MASSIVE Canadian Truckers convoy that converged on Ottawa Saturday along with hundreds of THOUSANDS of supporters against mandates and covid restriction overreach and illogic. Would love to see you guys cover it on one of your episodes this week it is gaining traction across the world at the moment. Keep well and keep up your incredible work. Cheers from Montreal, Canada!

Farmer's Co-Ops

Given the stranglehold that the big meat packers have over the lives of farmers is there no world where the farmers form co-ops and take control back? If so what are the obstacles to this happening?
