American History

Krystal & Saagar, what's your choice on the best book for the true history of the United States? I don't want to read anything with anyone's personal bias, any type of political slant, or glossing over of anything that is a black mark on this country's history. I just want to know the real truth of things and events that have happened since the 1700's. BTW, I'm an air traffic controller. So you have any questions about how the air traffic system really works (things you won't hear on TV such as the airlines not blaming themselves whatsoever) feel free to AMA! Keep up the good work.

Abortion compromise

Does the left now need to compromise on abortion access? Pass a bill with European level laws, ending at 15 weeks. Giving access to late stage abortion nationwide looks an impossibility. It’s time the left regained the sensible centre.

Abortion poll data by state

Can you all cover the abortion and/or Roe poll data for states where it will now be illegal? For as much as you have talked about how undemocratic this is at the National level, I think this data is at least relevant to the discussion and I haven’t seen it covered generally.

Bored Ape Yacht Club and 4Chan

Have either of you seen the controversy regarding one of the largest and most well known NFT/ cryptoverse developers, Yuga Labs, creators of the infamous Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs. This video provides a basic overview of the events and evidence of Neo-Nazi/ Alt-Right messaging being used in these projects and describes the perpetrators https://youtu.be/XpH3O6mnZvw . My larger questions are regarding 4Chan and online niche troll culture co-opting MSM, Wall St investors, celebrities, and much of the online population. What are the root causes to the immergence of these issues and what can be done to address them? Is it enough to just report on them, expose the perpetrators, and issue punishment? Or, do more serious steps need to be taken to stop the creation of these communities and limit their effects on our culture and economy? If so, what might effective regulation against these issues look like and how would it not encroach on freedom of speech and expand the surveillance state?

Similarity in the Legal Argument of Lochner Era Cases & Roe v. Wade

In her monologue on 6/28/22, Krystal cites support of FDR going as far as to threaten to pack the court in order to get the court to move on their Lochner Era jurisprudence that struck down certain New Deal legislation, as well as many state labor laws. Those Lochner Era cases utilized a Substantive due Process claim under the 14th Amendment to confer an unenumerated "Right to Contract" that was violated by some of the aforementioned statutes, which is similar to the legal justification used in Roe v. Wade, which made a Substantive Due Process claim under the 14th Amendment to confer an unenumerated "Right to Privacy" that was violated by abortion laws to varying degrees during the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters. How can you both say FDR was justified in threatening to exercise power outside of his executive authority to prevent the court from making an Substantive Due Process claim, while also calling the court "rouge" for overturning a similarly structured Substantive Due Process claim in Dobbs?
